First draft magazine cover for the first issue. There is one last Photoshoot this Wednesday at 10am, so this may not be the final picture used.
1) There is still no slogan for the magazine, so "Less Swag, More Salt" is only temporary.
2) This issue will focus on the theme "Freedom" and will highlight not just how much the Lord made us "FREE FROM", but also, the many things we are now "FREE TO" do and experience in the Kingdom.
3) All the models used in this issue will showcase their real and personal struggles and stories, and how they overcame/ are overcoming in Christ (no plastic models). Some of the testimonies graphically depicted in this issue are low-self image, porn-addiction, suicide, and materialism.
4) There will also be a couple features on porn, and how it affects females in today's society:
a) Many females that battle porn addictions, especially in the church, are usually silenced and kept bound because that demographic of porn users is rarely addressed. Most only highlight and refer to guys who struggle with and overcome porn addictions.. which leaves many women feeling shameful to confess. And even after Christ brings deliverance, many remain silent because of the perceived stigma of pornography being an "unlady-like" testimony. That has to be broken because 50% of girls in my smallgroup each semester (most of them churched/ pastor's daughters) are guaranteed to have struggles with pornogrpahy and masturbation. The Devil using this vice to silence many unsaved, and even saved, females in the church -- which will continue to increase if those who have found freedom do not testify, and tell of God's restoration and grace in this battle.
b) The porn industry creates a huge demand for promiscuous and displaced females to be used as commercial sex "products", so many are taken captive unwillingly (feeding sex-trafficking/ sex slavery) or are lured in from a young age through a series of abuse and attack on their self-image; through dialogue, media, and the growing "sex-sells" propaganda, society now teaches females that their identity and worth is found only in their sexual ability. This false reality allows many people to purchase and support pornography and promiscuous businesses without any remorse, because they remain comfortable and unaware of the link between pornography and sex-trafficking. This ignorance must be exposed.
This first magazine issue is expected to be released and marketed during the 2010summer months Jun, Jul, Aug - in hopes to fundraise and stir disciples to maximize the FREEDOM we have in Christ - Freedom from bondage and freedom to fight on behalf of those still bound!
